Jenn S Mills | Credentials
I began as a weekend hobbyist and painted on my own without much in the way of formal lessons. It was just for the pleasure of painting.
In 2005 I decided to take lessons and have since then studied art seriously, taking many courses from various artists.
I am currently working towards a Fine Arts Certificate at Haliburton Highland School for the Arts through Fleming College. The learning is on-going!
Thanks to my brother Terry Mills for his fine photography of my current work.
You will notice that many of these canvases are landscapes. Nature is endlessly beautiful with its changing contours, elements and colours. There is
much variation in mood, light and shadow. In our northern country we also have the four seasons! Never a dull moment!
Friends of mine have noted that many of my compositions have to do with pathways and reflections, hence the title for this collection. I am happy
with that as I do think that our personal lives revolve around these themes: following our life paths and reflecting upon our journeys through life.
The canvases look at prevailing mood and often depart from absolute accuracy. We have photography for that!
Our Canadian identity and spirit is embedded in our existence among the forests, waterways, fields and rocks. My hope is that my work may in some
way help kindle a feeling of the sacred in all living things and a sense of stewardship in each of us in preserving our wonderful wilderness. Nature may be either a harsh or a gentle mother by turns but she is the mother we all share.
